  1. Another attempt to push a certain product which hasn't come to market yet. See my comment to the recently awarded e2v EV76C664 sensor...

  2. This award requires entrants to pay. I feel that very few companies, rather big ones, enter the competition with not so interesting / so new / so good products but only because they have a large marketing budget.

    1. What does it cost to "pay to play"? While I am sure the award program has a real cost associated with it that needs to be recovered, I hope the organization keeps the fees at the breakeven point and not at the profit-center point. That would completely devalue the award for sure. Just wondering.

    2. I think the costs are completely covered by their magazine's ads...

    3. The prices are no longer available, but the difference between the early bird price and the full price is $100. It suggest a fee of 500-1000$ to participate.

  3. These competitions are of very little value to anyone except the management of the winning firms, and even then, it begins a process of building their belief that they are smarter than they really are. If you look at the history of the last 25 years and these types of awards - the vast majority of "winners" eventually turned out to be failures. This is simply a wasted marketing activity for the magazine and the companies involved.

  4. Our team is developing camera solutions based on this specific EMCCD. Any comments, advice, recommendations for specific applications?

  5. The Video for this is over a year old, they have Samples and an Eval. available; not sure why it is though to be unavailable nor why one might suggest it is not innovative.

A lot of these Shows / Events are not free. You can't just show up with a Suitcase and a Tent and expect to be given floorspace to hock your stuff.
